Where do "Bitcoins" come from? Are they a thing? Can you hold them? Are they imaginary? These are the questions that newbies to cryptocurrency are probably asking.

The short answer — #cryptocurrency coins are "mined". Essentially, specially-equipped computers are busy doing advanced calculations and crunching numbers. They must "solve a puzzle" in order to generate a new coin.
